About the school

Bridge Road School is located in the inner city of Sydney, within the Marrickville Network, and was established to support K-6 students with emotional disturbances. The school provides an intensive, specialised behavioural intervention program for young children with mental health and Autistic disabilities. With a maximum enrolment of 35 students across 5 classes, the school maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio, ensuring personalized attention. Each class has a maximum of seven students, staffed by one teacher and one School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) at all times.

Operating on a 4 day/1 day delivery model, students integrate into their home schools for one day each week. Placement at Bridge Road School requires an access request submitted to Student Services for consideration by the Behavioural Panel, which meets termly.

The philosophy of the school emphasises consultation, collaboration, and positive communication to assist students in 'crossing the bridge'. Staff are dedicated to helping students develop skills to think clearly, speak confidently, and make informed choices. An expectation is set for students to be Safe, Respectful, and Responsible Learners, and the school's structured environment fosters happiness, confidence, and resilience.

Through dynamic teaching and learning programs focused on developing positive relationships and communication skills, Bridge Road School is committed to nurturing and supporting its students. In this inclusive and compassionate environment, every child is given the opportunity to thrive academically and emotionally.

Mission
