Schools Running Support Classes
Many mainstream NSW public schools run support classes — smaller classes within an otherwise regular school, staffed and resourced for students with a particular disability or additional need. A child in a support class is enrolled at their local-style school and shares its grounds, events and community, while learning in a setting suited to them.
Support classes are different from a School for Specific Purposes (SSP), where the whole school is dedicated to specialised support. Browse the focus areas below to find schools that run a support class for a particular need. Placement in a support class is arranged with the school and the department, usually through an access request.
