About the school
Stockton Public School, established in 1861, serves a small yet diverse community situated on a peninsula on the northern side of Newcastle Harbour. The school provides a welcoming and friendly environment, supported by dedicated staff who deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs for students from Preschool to Year 6. Focusing on the holistic development of each child—academically, socially, and emotionally—the school encourages students to reach their full potential in a cooperative and caring learning atmosphere.
Community Engagement and Wellbeing
There is a strong emphasis on building effective partnerships with the community, with an active parent body working diligently to enhance students' educational experiences. Student wellbeing is prioritised through a Positive Behaviour For Learning framework that promotes the values of being united, safe, and engaged. Opportunities for leadership are also provided through the Junior Positive Behaviour For Learning (PBL) team.
Extra-Curricular Opportunities
Stockton Public School enriches student life with various extra-curricular programs, including public speaking, coding, gardening clubs, and enviro rangers focusing on sustainability. The school also values comprehensive sporting programs and creative arts activities, offering students chances to participate in excursions, camps, workshops, and productions that enhance their learning experiences. With technology as a key priority, the school integrates future-focused pedagogy and creative practices throughout its curriculum.
Mission
At Stockton Public School, we help every student to learn, grow and succeed. We prioritise knowing every student and building positive relationships with families, ensuring every child feels valued and understood.
