About the school
Islington Public School is a small educational and community hub located in the inner city of Newcastle, focusing on the development and wellbeing of every child. The school offers an outstanding education supported by dedicated staff, and a range of consultants and support teachers work collaboratively to ensure students become confident and resilient. With a tradition extending over 130 years, Islington adopts a progressive approach to education, emphasizing the integration of the arts, STEM-based strategies, and social responsibility.
More than 30% of the school’s population comprises students who have arrived as refugees from various parts of the world, enriching the school’s cultural diversity. Additionally, Islington Public School provides regional assistance through a support class for students with mild intellectual disabilities. The school maintains strong connections and partnerships within the community, underlining its commitment to all students and families.
In recent upgrades, projects like the Cooler Classrooms initiative have enhanced the school's learning environment, ensuring it remains a modern and effective educational space. Islington Public School prioritises a safe and welcoming environment, making it a vibrant place for students to learn and grow.
