About the school

Ashbury Public School has been serving the community since 1928 and continues its long-standing tradition of providing an excellent academic foundation while offering all children the opportunity to develop their strengths and interests. Nestled among native trees in a quiet residential area between Ashfield and Canterbury, the school focuses on student wellbeing through the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework and Restorative Practices, encouraging healthy relationships and responsibility for behaviour.

Curriculum and Extra-Curricular Activities

The school offers a balanced curriculum along with a vast range of extra-curricular activities in academics, creative arts, and sports. Students participate in various teams in the Primary Schools Sporting Association (PSSA) competition, including Softball, T-ball, Netball, Cricket, Soccer, OzTag, and Touch Football. Additionally, opportunities in debating, public speaking, bands, dance groups, choirs, and Mandarin classes allow students to explore their interests. The Ashbury Concert, Intermediate, Training, and Jazz bands have achieved gold awards at the UNSW Band Festival, and students regularly perform at prestigious venues such as the Sydney Opera House.

Community Involvement

Ashbury Public School promotes active parental involvement, with parents and carers collaborating to enhance learning opportunities. The Parent & Citizen Association works with teachers to support these initiatives, including fundraising events. The school also features an active Community Garden maintained by parents and students, serving as an urban oasis for educational activities and workshops.

With a dedicated team of experienced classroom teachers and specialists, Ashbury Public School ensures every child is guided to thrive in a supportive environment, aiming to nurture future members of the community.
