About the school

Glenfield Park School (GPS) is a specialist educational institution located in Glenfield, New South Wales. Catering for up to 70 students, the school serves those from Kindergarten to Year 12 diagnosed with emotional disturbances and/or mild intellectual disabilities, including some with additional diagnoses such as Autism. Students are referred to GPS by their previous schools, and placements are determined by a regional panel to focus on addressing their social and behavioural needs.

Learning Environment

The school places a strong emphasis on developing social skills and positive behaviour, alongside an academic focus primarily on literacy and numeracy. The educational structure includes five primary program classes and two secondary program classes, each limited to eight students. Each class is supported by a teacher and a School Learning Support Officer (SLSO), ensuring personalised attention and care for every student.

Every student at Glenfield Park School has an Adjusted Learning Support Plan, collaboratively developed with input from students, teachers, parents, and carers. The senior program offers pathways such as the Life Skills Certificate, Record of School Achievement (ROSA), and connections to TAFE and work placements.

Community Engagement and Wellbeing

The school actively collaborates with families and the local community, fostering an inclusive environment that prioritises student wellbeing. It is part of the Hilltop Community of Schools, which includes Ajuga School and Campbell House School, and focuses on initiatives in gifted education, Aboriginal education, attendance, and pathways for students.

Mission

At Glenfield Park School, every student is valued, every achievement is celebrated, and every day is an opportunity to grow, learn, and shine.
