Punchbowl Public School
Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day.
About the school
Punchbowl Public School has high expectations for all students and encourages them to become independent, successful, lifelong learners. The school serves a socially and economically diverse multicultural community, with 98% of students having a language background other than English, and 8% from refugee backgrounds. A broad range of language groups are represented, with the largest coming from Arabic, Bengali, Pacific Island, and Indonesian backgrounds. With a K-6 enrolment of approximately 520 students, the school also has an additional 80 students in preschool and 32 in early intervention programs, including autism classes.
Quality teaching and learning is the school's top priority. Students are supported by English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) teachers, Learning and Support Teachers, and specialist Instructional Leaders through the Early Action for Success program. This support has led to significant educational improvements noted in recent NAPLAN results.
Punchbowl Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, focusing on the social, emotional, and physical well-being of students. The school employs dedicated staff, including an Assistant Principal for Student Learning and Wellbeing, School Learning and Support Officers, a Speech Pathologist, and a registered Psychologist. Furthermore, the Community Liaison Officer strengthens the partnerships between parents, the school, and the wider community, supported by an active Parents and Citizens Association.
The school’s commitment to inclusivity, collaboration, and a supportive learning environment ensures that every child can thrive. Punchbowl Public School is dedicated to fostering the growth and success of every child, making it a welcoming choice for families looking for quality public education.
