About the school

At Concord Public School, catering to the individual needs of the whole child is a priority. The school believes that strategic collaboration within and beyond the school will inspire, engage and challenge students to become confident, creative, innovative and critical life-long learners. Established in 1880, Concord Public School has a rich history and serves the local community with a heritage-listed site surrounded by lush, well-kept grounds.

Programs and Curriculum

Students have numerous opportunities to participate in leadership roles, inter-school sports, dance, choir, public speaking, and debating, with the choir and dance group performing regularly at events. Significant programs include an Italian Community Language Program, English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) program, and MultiLit programs (InitialLit, MiniLit, MacLit). All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 partake in Italian language lessons, receiving two hours per week of instruction, which incorporates technology for enhanced learning. The school boasts ample access to resources such as a computer room, laptops, iPads, and library technology.

Community and Support

The school community is culturally and linguistically diverse, with many students from non-English speaking backgrounds. In 2024, Concord Public School was awarded the School Excellence State Award for its International Student Program, highlighting its commitment to inclusivity. A proactive Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) strengthens the school community, contributing towards various initiatives, while a Before and After School Care facility supports working parents. Students benefit from collaborations with local high schools, attending advanced subject lessons and events, enriching their educational experience.

Mission

At Concord Public School, we are dedicated to achieving equity and excellence by ensuring every student is known, valued and cared for, and has access to high-quality learning that supports their individual strengths, needs and aspirations.
