Guided by core values of Respect, Responsibility and Excellence, the school promotes a vibrant learning culture that empowers students to excel academically while nurturing their personal growth. The school boasts a rich history, including longstanding traditions such as zone sports, multicultural festivals, and a scholarship program funded by the local community, which help cultivate a strong sense of fellowship known as 'the Cumberland spirit'.
Cumberland High School offers extensive facilities, including a gymnasium, multiple sporting ovals, tennis and basketball courts, drama and performance spaces, and well-resourced classrooms—all fully air-conditioned, thanks to the efforts of the school's Parent and Citizen Association. The school is committed to providing a tailored learning experience, utilising technology such as an interactive network linking classrooms to educational institutions worldwide, and a structured learning support program designed to ensure equity in student achievement. Recent expansions in facilities and programs, particularly in music and technology, have further enriched the educational offerings.
