About the school
Yates Avenue Public School, situated in the suburban Dundas Valley, was established in 1958. The school covers an extensive area of five acres, featuring spacious grassed playgrounds. Its community represents over 20 cultural groups and is committed to providing a quality education with a focus on improving student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy. In addition to classes from Kindergarten to Year 6, there is an onsite Department of Education and Communities Preschool and an Early Intervention class.
Students benefit from support programs such as English as a Second Language, Reading Recovery, Learning and Support, and Positive Behaviour for Learning. Among the school's facilities are fully refurbished classrooms with interactive whiteboards, a computer lab, a well-resourced library, and large covered outdoor areas. There is also Before and After School Care available onsite.
Students are encouraged to participate in various activities including dance, choir, public speaking, cultural activities, and other representative opportunities. Parents actively participate in the school community through the dedicated Parents and Citizens (P & C) association, fostering a collaborative environment between families and the school staff. Together, they promote programs that embody the academic, personal, and social values shared by all.
