About the school
Willans Hill School for Specific Purposes caters for students K to 12 who have an intellectual or physical disability in either the moderate or severe range. Each student receives an individual learning plan developed yearly in consultation with parents and carers, focusing on individual priorities and the Department of Education's curriculum outcomes. The school community believes that all students have a right to quality teaching and learning, emphasizing the development of communication, literacy, numeracy, and work skills. These essential skills aim to ensure that Willans Hill students can maximise their access to an independent life and work within the community.
Facilities and Resources
The school provides a range of facilities and resources to support student learning across various areas. Classrooms are vibrant and comfortable, catering to all learning styles. Additional features include a sensory room for calming and emotional regulation, multiple playgrounds, a library for reading and research, and a kitchen that allows for hands-on cooking experiences. The school also has a sports field and basketball court for physical activities. Technology plays a fundamental role in learning, with interactive SMART Boards, iPads, and assistive technologies incorporated to enhance student engagement and communication.

At Willans Hill, strong partnerships with families, carers, and the broader community are celebrated. The school principle highlights the values of inclusion, respect, and collaboration, ensuring that every learner is known, valued, and supported both in school and beyond. With dedicated and highly skilled staff working alongside therapists, they focus on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all students, helping them thrive and achieve their potential.
