Dubbo School of Distance Education
We help every student to learn, grow and succeed.
About the school
Dubbo School of Distance Education (DSODE) provides valuable equity services for New South Wales students who cannot attend their local school or access courses offered at their home school. With a dedicated team of 130 teachers and administration officers, the school supports approximately 400 full-time and pathways students from Preschool to Year 12, ensuring personalised learning experiences. DSODE prioritises building and nurturing quality relationships to engage students meaningfully within the school community.
Educational Opportunities
The school offers a wide range of NSW Board of Studies courses and has developed specialised programs to assist students with disabilities, identified learning needs, young parents, and those with behavioural histories. Enrolment periods vary from six months to 14 years, allowing flexibility to cater to individual circumstances. Additionally, DSODE expands curriculum options for rural schools, providing single courses for over 600 additional students.
Learning Environment
DSODE features a robust field service program, wherein teachers conduct workshops across various rural areas. Students can also participate in residential camps that provide opportunities for social interaction and additional learning activities. The school employs blended learning programs, enabling interaction through face-to-face contact, online platforms, and other modern technologies.
Commitment to Student Success
The school actively encourages participation in NAPLAN assessments to gain essential diagnostic information, while emphasising the importance of contextualising test data for the unique demographic of its students. Ultimately, Dubbo School of Distance Education is dedicated to transforming the educational experiences of its diverse student body, ensuring that every learner has the support they need to succeed.
