About the school
Mount Warrigal Public School has been established since 1967 and caters for students from preschool to Year 6. The school includes a 2 unit preschool and 4 support unit classes, which comprise an Early Intervention Unit, two multi-categorical classes, and a class for students with moderate intellectual disabilities. It prides itself on its diversity and individualised support for each student. Collaboration with the school community is strong, aided by a dedicated Parents and Citizens Association that works in various ways to enhance the school experience.
A Community Liaison Officer supports community wellbeing and engagement, alongside various external agencies that offer programs such as playgroup, breakfast club, and after-school learning club. The school encourages all students to "Aim Higher" and places significant emphasis on individualised quality teaching, particularly in literacy and numeracy to prepare students for lifelong learning.
In support of teacher development, the school is part of the K-2 Early Action for Success initiative, which focuses on coaching and mentoring. It strives to nurture assessment-capable learners and inspires passionate educators. The school supports the whole child by addressing social, emotional, and academic needs, with a core focus on student wellbeing, integrating Positive Behaviour for Learning programs, and prioritising safety and respect.
Mount Warrigal Public School also offers a range of extracurricular activities, including creative and performance arts, sports, and student leadership initiatives, to ensure every student is empowered to be a reflective, future-focused learner. The school aims to foster a progressive community that values inclusivity and meaningful partnerships, ensuring every member feels safe, respected, and connected.
Mission
To empower every student to be successful, reflective learners through individualised, high-quality teaching and learning.
