教授五年級的新州公立學校
五年級是 Stage 3 的開始，即小學的最後階段。這是第二個 NAPLAN 年，也是機會班的第一年，同時是申請七年級精英中學學位的開始。
機會班與精英中學
開辦機會班的學校取錄透過四年級測試獲派位的學生，班別涵蓋五、六年級。另一方面，希望孩子七年級入讀精英中學或部分精英中學的家庭，須在孩子五年級時提出申請，並於六年級參加入學測試。
五年級的學習
學生於 3 月參加 NAPLAN。學年內，他們閱讀及分析較複雜的文章，撰寫議論文及說明文；數學方面學習小數、百分數、角度及數據。科學、歷史及地理涉及獨立研習及報告。
