About the school

Stewart House School is a residential school situated opposite the beach at South Curl Curl in Northern Sydney, catering to students in Years 2 to 8 from government schools in NSW and the ACT. The school provides a unique 12-day visit for approximately 90 students every fortnight, amounting to about 1,800 students annually, as recommended by school principals. The primary focus of the educational programs is on enhancing social and emotional skills, with activities designed to foster personal growth and resilience.

Educational Programs

The school's curriculum includes skill development and relaxation activities, such as art and craft, and excursions to major tourist attractions in Sydney. An Aboriginal Education Officer is available to support Aboriginal students, with Indigenous and Environmental Education incorporated into the program. Throughout their stay, children are encouraged to enhance their independence, self-esteem, and sense of responsibility. This includes participation in a preventative dental health program and the promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, encompassing healthy eating habits and good hygiene.

Recreational Activities

Recreational supervisors facilitate after-school leisure activities, enabling students to build upon skills learned during the day. The health staff conducts screenings for dental, optometric, and auditory health, providing minor medical treatments as necessary. The school fosters an environment that prioritises wellbeing, creating a supportive setting for all students.

Mission

Stewart House School, a NSW Department of Education ‘School for Specific Purposes,’ provides a nurturing, coeducational wellbeing program for children in Years 2 to 8 from government schools across NSW and the ACT.
