About the school
At West Wyalong High School, there is a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that inspires students to become motivated and successful learners, with a strong emphasis on both academic and social development. Every student and teacher is encouraged to pursue continuous improvement each year. In the pursuit of excellence and in preparing students for future educational, training, and vocational pathways, the focus remains on personalising learning experiences and enhancing positive relationships among students, staff, parents/carers, and the wider community.
Academic and Vocational Pathways
The senior high school curriculum caters for the diverse needs of students, including vocational education, featuring areas such as Construction, Hospitality, Primary Industries, and Manufacturing and Engineering. Special school programs exist to cater for the divergent needs of students, and strong connections with partner primary schools are maintained through mentoring programs, School Based Traineeships, and a Year 6 transition program.
Student Wellbeing
West Wyalong High School prides itself on strong welfare systems aimed at developing self and social awareness, self-management, and responsible decision-making in students. Opportunities for all students to realise their potential in academic, sporting, and cultural pursuits are provided, ensuring a holistic approach to student development. By collaboratively analysing data and implementing targeted interventions, the school builds robust foundations in literacy and numeracy while setting high aspirations for all students.
