About the school
Marrickville Public School is dedicated to nurturing creativity and innovation within a safe and respectful environment. Established in 1864, the school has a rich history of catering to a culturally and socially diverse community for over 150 years. Located on the edge of Marrickville's industrial area, the heritage-listed school is comprised of four sets of buildings surrounded by spacious playgrounds and significant native gardens. Currently, the school serves a student population of 294 from Kindergarten to Year 6.
The core values of Marrickville Public School—Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be A Learner—guide students to reflect on their actions, consider others, and engage meaningfully in their education. The dedicated staff, including various support and specialist teachers, is committed to high-quality educational outcomes and diverse experiences tailored to each student's needs. The school also benefits from an active Parents and Citizens Association that fosters community involvement and collaboration in school programs.
To further enhance educational experiences, Marrickville Public School collaborates with external agencies and organisations. Among its partnerships, the school shares facilities with Aspect, a school for Autism, Good Start (an early childhood centre), and YMCA (providing out-of-school hours care). This collaborative spirit reflects the school's vision of creating an engaging and inclusive community, where every learner is embraced with care and respect, empowering them to excel academically and personally.
Mission
