About the school

Hunters Hill Public School has proudly served the Hunters Hill Community for 140 years. As the only public primary school on the Hunters Hill Peninsula, its historic buildings are heritage listed, set amidst playgrounds with panoramic harbour views and beautiful treed surrounds. With an enrolment of 350 students in fourteen classes, ranging from Kindergarten to Year 6, the school has recently completed significant building improvements, including the addition of six new classrooms and a large Library that integrates seamlessly with the unique sandstone heritage classrooms.

The school fosters a rich learning environment, emphasising excellence in academics and personal growth. It provides diverse educational programs in Literacy, Numeracy, Science, HSIE, Performing and Visual Arts, Sport, and Personal Development. The staff are highly professional, with all class teachers holding a certificate in gifted and talented education, ensuring that the varying needs of students are met effectively. Specialist teachers for French, Sport, Music, and Learning Support further enhance the educational experience.

A strong focus on values-based education nurtures leadership and compassion, with dignity for all individuals being a core expectation. The vibrant school community, supported by an active P & C Association and School Council, is dedicated to providing ample opportunities for children through extracurricular activities like bands, choirs, drama, and after-school programs such as cooking and art. The school is a welcoming environment where every child is supported to learn, grow, and succeed, united by pride in its traditions and its motto: AMITY.
