About the school
Moorebank High School is a year 7-12 coeducational selective and comprehensive school situated in south western Sydney, with an enrolment of 1040 students. The school has focused on building a strong educational foundation, receiving transitional funding which allows for additional staffing to enhance learning experiences. A significant portion of the student body, 59%, comes from language backgrounds other than English. The curriculum is designed to be broad, differentiated, and balanced, catering to individual learning needs and interests.
All teachers have engaged in professional learning specifically targeting gifted and talented education. Over the past three years, at least 75% of students completing year 12 have proceeded to further education at universities and TAFE, with a commitment to increasing this percentage through additional late-stage support for students.
The school is recognised for its extensive student leadership program, including roles such as Prefects, Interact leaders, and Environmental Leaders, reflecting a strong emphasis on community involvement and personal development. Students also compete successfully in various sports, and the school has seen significant achievements in the creative and performing arts.
Moorebank High School fosters partnerships with three primary schools to ensure smooth transitions for students moving to high school. The leadership collaboration with three partially selective high schools—Bonnyrigg, Elizabeth Macarthur, and Prairiewood—enhances professional development for teachers, ensuring quality teaching practices. The school offers robust support through a dedicated welfare team as well, reinforcing its commitment to student wellbeing.
