教授八年級的新州公立中學
八年級是 Stage 4（中學首兩年）的最後一年。學生已適應分科時間表；在大部分學校，這是完成必修語言課程並首次為九年級選擇選修科的一年。
語言與選修科
NESA 規定每名學生須在 Stage 4 完成 100 小時的一門英語以外語言課程，以連續課程形式教授，多數在七年級或八年級進行。八年級末，學生選擇 Stage 5 選修科；各校提供的科目不同，可包括其他語言、視覺及表演藝術、科技、商業、體能活動及其他課程。
八年級的學習
英文、數學、科學、歷史、地理、創意藝術、科技及 PDHPE 的 Stage 4 學習成果會在學年結束時評估。八年級沒有 NAPLAN。
