About the school
Broken Hill North Public School welcomes all children and believes in their ability to be successful learners, helping them achieve their individual goals and aspirations. Located in the isolated Far West of New South Wales, the school has been part of the Priority Schools Program for low socioeconomic status (LSES) families for over 30 years and was placed in the Priority Action Schools Program in 2009 for LSES communities. The enrolment comprises approximately 270 students, including five Special Education Classes covering a range of needs from moderate to mild intellectual disabilities.
Aboriginal cultural understanding and inclusion are high priorities for the school, which has an Aboriginal student population of around 30%. The school community is committed to providing every student with a broad education to realise their potential by adhering to the five school expectations: 'Be Safe', 'Do Your Best', 'Be Respectful', 'Be Responsible', and the understanding that 'School is for Learning'.
Broken Hill North Public School offers a variety of programs tailored to meet the needs of individual students. These range from learning support and integration of special needs students to enrichment programs, PSSA Sport, dance groups, and a Breakfast Program. The school prides itself on fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment that aims to inspire curiosity and confidence while offering every child the opportunity to explore their academic, creative, and sporting interests.
