About the school
Figtree High School is a proud NSW Department of Education and Communities comprehensive public high school located south west of Wollongong. Established in 1969, the school moved to its current site in 1970. It embodies the values of Respect, Safety and Learning, which are evident in all aspects of school life. Figtree High School is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential through a well-balanced and challenging curriculum. The teaching staff is highly regarded for their expertise in providing quality education, leading the school to numerous awards for excellence at various levels.
The school offers a diverse range of electives and encourages participation in academic, sporting, and cultural competitions, along with volunteering and scholarships. Recognised for its success, students at Figtree High School have consistently attained accolades as distinguished achievers in the NSW Higher School Certificate and have represented the Department of Education with excellence in various pursuits.
Figtree High School’s extensive welfare program includes support initiatives tailored to individual needs, such as the Positive Behaviour for Success Program and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Additionally, the school features a physical disabilities and autism class as well as the Flametree Annexe, which caters to students with challenging behaviours.
