About the school
Karuah Public School is located in the heart of Karuah, adjacent to the scenic Karuah River. It serves a diverse community, welcoming students from Karuah Township, neighbouring Swan Bay, North Arm Cove, Carrington, and Tahlee Bible College. The school's motto, 'Look, Listen and Learn,' reflects its commitment to supporting students in reaching their full potential. Karuah Public School prioritises foundational skills and encourages active participation in academic, social, and physical pursuits.
The school highly values the partnership among students, staff, and parents, which fosters a supportive community. A significant portion of the student body identifies as Aboriginal, and the school runs various programs to ensure equity in education and provide all students with opportunities to succeed. Events such as cultural dancing, NAIDOC, and Harmony days highlight Karuah's rich cultural diversity.
To achieve its educational goals, the school implements several quality programs, including Accelerated Literacy (AL), Count Me In Too (CMIT), Literacy on Track (LOT), Language Literacy Learning (L3), and Targeted Numeracy Teaching (TNT). These initiatives enable teachers to personalise their instruction based on student needs. Additionally, the school is a National Partnerships school and participates in the Priority schools program, which provides additional funding for modern resources and support.
Karuah Public School is dedicated to offering a comprehensive education for students from Kindergarten to Year 6, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment.
