About the school

Telarah Public School is a preschool to Year 6 institution, located just five minutes north of Maitland in the Hunter Valley. It strives to foster a love of learning, pride in personal achievement, and respect for others among its approximately 520 students, including 80 preschool attendees. The school features an Early Intervention Unit designed to support children with learning difficulties before they commence Kindergarten, along with a support class for students dealing with Emotional Disturbances. These valuable resources extend service to schools across the Maitland area.

Equity funding is utilised to enhance literacy and numeracy development from Kindergarten to Year 6, with every classroom equipped with interactive whiteboards to boost engagement and enrich the learning experience. The school boasts a high level of parent and community involvement, notably in the performing arts and various curricular activities. In 2011, Telarah Public School implemented the Positive Behaviour for Learning initiative, aimed at teaching students to Be Safe, Be Positive, and for every member of the community to Be a Learner.

The school actively fosters partnerships with parents and caregivers, recognising them as the first educators of their children. This commitment is evident in the school’s emphasis on inclusive education, with a focus on providing tailored support to meet diverse student needs and optimise their learning outcomes. Through strong leadership and collaboration, Telarah Public School endeavours to create a nurturing environment where every student is empowered to learn, grow, and succeed.
