About the school
Auburn Public School is a large primary school located in Sydney's mid-western suburbs, serving a diverse community with a strong cultural background. Situated on two sides of Auburn Road, the school shares resources equally across both sites. Notably, 98% of the students are bilingual, with English as a second language, and over 35 different languages are spoken among the students, predominantly from cultural groups including Turkey, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Somalia, the Pacific Islands, and China.
The school prioritises a supportive and nurturing environment, particularly for many students from refugee backgrounds who may not have received formal schooling. The community acknowledges education as a critical pathway to success, fostering a collaborative culture of continuous improvement. The implementation of Positive Behaviour For Learning (PBL) ensures a safe and caring atmosphere. Parents play an active role in the school community, participating in various events and welcoming translation services when needed. The experienced staff includes qualified classroom teachers and support teachers, providing tailored assistance to meet diverse learning needs.
The school's strategic directions focus on innovative practices, high performance, and inclusive community partnerships, which underpin the educational offerings since its establishment in 1886. With a commitment to cater to the aspirations of students and families, Auburn Public School provides a wide range of educational programs and initiatives designed to promote positive learning outcomes.
