教授五年级的新州公立学校
五年级是 Stage 3 的开始，即小学的最后阶段。这是第二个 NAPLAN 年，也是机会班的第一年，同时是申请七年级精英中学学位的开始。
机会班与精英中学
开设机会班的学校录取通过四年级测试获得分配的学生，班级涵盖五、六年级。另一方面，希望孩子七年级入读精英中学或部分精英中学的家庭，须在孩子五年级时提出申请，并于六年级参加入学测试。
五年级的学习
学生于 3 月参加 NAPLAN。学年内，他们阅读及分析较复杂的文章，撰写议论文及说明文；数学方面学习小数、百分数、角度及数据。科学、历史及地理涉及独立研习及报告。
