Ilford Public School
We help every student to learn, grow and succeed.
About the school
Ilford Public School is a small village school located on the picturesque Castlereagh Highway between Lithgow and Mudgee. Since its establishment in 1868, the school has been dedicated to providing high-quality, inclusive educational experiences for its students, who primarily come from the local farming community. With a current enrolment of 16 students, many families have historical ties to the school, demonstrating its integral role in the community.
The school aims to ensure that every student reaches their potential, fostering a positive sense of wellbeing, high expectations, and strong community connections. Educators at Ilford Public School engage in research-driven practices to ensure that teaching and learning are of the highest quality. This commitment is reflected in the foundational focus on numeracy and literacy, essential for overcoming any geographical disadvantages.
Situated in a beautiful bush setting, the school operates two multigrade classes alongside a library and administrative area housed in a historical stone building dating back to 1878. The grounds feature well-maintained gardens, a large grassed oval, a fixed play area, a sandpit, a tennis court, and vegetable gardens, all contributing to a rich learning environment.
Ilford Public School's values—kindness, respect, tolerance, and trust—guide its educational philosophy, ensuring that each student feels valued and included. The school offers diverse opportunities in sports, culture, and environmental programs, reinforcing its commitment to holistic education.
Mission
At Ilford Public School we strive for excellence with high quality inclusive educational experiences. Our vision is that every student reaches their potential through a positive sense of wellbeing, high expectations for all and strong community connections.
