About the school
Glen Alice Public School is a small, one-teacher school located in the Capertee Valley of central western New South Wales. With a proud history spanning over 125 years, it provides an educational service to the children of the Glen Alice district and acts as a community hub for various activities. The school aims to create a nurturing environment that fosters each child's potential through individualised learning programs tailored to their ability levels and learning styles. Support is provided by a teacher's aide and district consultants for students with specific learning needs.
A unique aspect of Glen Alice Public School is its commitment to sustainable living, featuring numerous vegetable gardens, an orchard, chickens, and a worm farm. Students are engaged in learning about the science of growing, cooking, and consuming food, while also promoting community involvement through gardening activities.
The school offers various extracurricular activities such as sports days, canoeing at Dunns Swamp, and horse riding lessons with ponies staying at the school for two weeks each term. Through these initiatives, Glen Alice Public School not only prioritises academic growth but also the holistic development of its students.
