About the school
Kempsey East Public School, established in 1881, is well-respected in the local community and serves a diverse student population drawn from urban and rural areas. The school's core values are respect, cooperation, and responsibility, which are integrated into the School Discipline Code and reinforced within the curriculum. A notable program at the school, Early Explorers, transitions students into kindergarten by providing play-based learning experiences, helping them feel safe and included from their first day. Despite challenges indicated by the Australian Early Development Index regarding language development and social skills of incoming kindergarten students, the school's dedicated and effective teaching strategies have consistently supported these students in achieving results that meet and often exceed state averages in NAPLAN assessments.
The school prioritises relevant and challenging teaching programs, with a focus on both enrichment programs and support in literacy and numeracy for all students, including those who are gifted and talented. Opportunities for students to engage in excursions, participate in choir and dance, and partake in various sports are integral to the school's holistic approach to education. The use of technology is emphasised to equip students for the digital age, fostering skills essential for learning and living in contemporary society. All students are encouraged to strive for their best in all facets of school life, preparing them to be active, respected community members.
