About the school
Green Hill Public School is a small school located on the outskirts of Kempsey, a country town on the mid north coast of NSW. With 98% of its enrolment being Aboriginal students, the school has established a strong connection with the local Aboriginal community, serving as a nurturing environment for the transition of children from home to school. The school incorporates a culturally rich framework into its classroom programs, using Accelerated Literacy, a program specifically designed for Aboriginal children, to enhance literacy understanding.
The curriculum includes various health and welfare programs such as Count Me in Too Indigenous, Dunghutti Language program, Block 'n' Blow, and Munch 'n' Crunch. Green Hill Public School has been recognised for its commitment to improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal children, having developed and published a Child Protection program that won the NSW Baxter Award in 2009.
Collaborating closely with the Dunghutti people, the school works towards creating opportunities that foster success in education and reconciliation. The staff focuses on creating a supportive and welcoming environment that ensures every student feels valued and encouraged to grow and succeed. With a mission of helping every student learn, grow, and succeed, Green Hill Public School is a vital part of its local community, providing a high-quality education for Kindergarten to Year 6 students.
