Celebrating Excellence in Education
About the school
Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina Campus is a dynamic comprehensive, co-educational high school located on the Woy Woy peninsula, catering to students in Years 7 to 9. Established in 2002, the college operates across two campuses, each designed to provide age-appropriate learning environments and expanded curricular and extra-curricular offerings.
Educational Approach
At the Umina campus, the school employs a Middle Years education philosophy emphasising team-based teaching, learning skills, and the development of confidence and leadership among students. The unique Teaching Teams structure features Head Teachers and Team Leaders managing each of the eight teams in the Middle School, which has significantly contributed to the impressive growth in student performance in both literacy and numeracy. This improvement often matches or even exceeds state growth rates.
Opportunities
For students seeking specialised streams, the college offers selective classes in both Academic and Performing Arts. These programs have created remarkable opportunities for students to excel in their respective fields. Furthermore, the school's athletic programs have gained recognition, particularly in Rugby League, with the Under 14 team achieving the title of State Champions and the Under 15 team being crowned the NSW Country Cup and All Schools Champions.
