Wambangalang Environmental Education Centre

Wambangalang Environmental Education Centre (WEEC) is an environmental education resource located on the outskirts of Dubbo, New South Wales. The school spans 12.5 hectares and is situated in a regenerating box gum grassy woodland, under the traditional custodianship of the Wiradjuri people. WEEC aims to empower learners to reconnect with, value, and sustain Australia's natural and cultural heritage.

Educational Approach

The centre provides high-quality experiential learning programs for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. These programs are designed to inspire students to connect with nature and promote positive behavioural changes towards environmental protection. The learning experiences include excursions to various locations such as the Macquarie River and Macquarie Marshes, as well as incursion programs tailored for schools.

Community Partnerships

WEEC collaborates with various organisations, including the Office of Environment and Heritage and local councils, to support sustainability education. By integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into the curriculum, the school fosters an understanding of culture and environmental stewardship among students.

Facilities and Initiatives

The centre features modern facilities, including classroom spaces and outdoor learning areas that enhance the educational experience. Recent initiatives focus on sustainability, such as the Smart Energy Pilot Project aimed at utilising renewable energy sources. WEEC is committed to providing a healthy learning environment and improving student outcomes through innovative educational strategies.

We are an Environmental Education Centre that proudly supports schools across NSW. We offer high-quality, hands-on learning experiences in nature for students from Kindergarten to Year 12.
