Cascade Environmental Education Centre

Cascade Environmental Education Centre offers unique educational experiences tailored for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Situated in the picturesque village of Cascade, 22 kilometres northeast of Dorrigo, the centre is immersed in beautiful cool temperate rainforest, making it an ideal location for hands-on learning about the environment and sustainability.

Educational Programs

The centre runs a variety of programs, including day trips, camps, and incursions, that align with the school curriculum across all key learning areas. These programs are developed in consultation with client schools to meet specific needs, ensuring students engage actively with their learning. With a capacity to host up to 70 students, the centre provides dormitory accommodations and catering, creating a comprehensive learning environment.

Community Engagement

Although there are no permanent students enrolled, Cascade Environmental Education Centre interacts with approximately 6000 students annually. The centre plays a significant role in the local community by forming partnerships with diverse environmental stakeholders, such as local councils and conservation authorities. This collaborative approach enhances the educational offerings available to students while fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Mission

The mission of the centre is to develop eco-citizens who are informed about their environmental impact and motivated to effect positive change. This commitment is evident in the programs that incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, teaching students about cultural connections to Country and environmental stewardship.
