Rivendell School is a state-wide interdisciplinary facility located in Concord West, providing education and support for students with emotional, behavioural, and mental health issues. The school operates in conjunction with the Rivendell Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Service, making it a unique partnership between the NSW Ministry of Health and the NSW Department of Education. With a maximum enrolment of 89 students, Rivendell caters specifically for students from years 7 to 12 and employs a collaborative approach, integrating clinical and educational staff to develop tailored education programs.
Educational Programs
Rivendell School offers five specialised programs:
- Lawson Program: Targeting mood disorders and school refusal, supports students in years 7-12 who've been admitted to the Rivendell Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Service.
- Sulman Program: A tutorial program designed for students in years 11-12, focusing on individualised learning needs.
- Yaralla Program: Supports high school students with psychosis, providing a tailored educational experience.
- Paterson Program: Geared towards students in years 7-10 facing emotional disorders, requiring structured support.
- Walker Unit: An acute psychiatric ward for state-wide high school students requiring immediate intervention. Additionally, an Outreach Learning Centre operates at Campbelltown Hospital, ensuring ongoing support for students upon discharge from psychiatric care.
