Sandon Public School
We help every student to learn, grow and succeed.
About the school
Sandon Public School is a collaborative learning community dedicated to developing confident, successful learners and leaders. The school emphasises creativity, innovation, and responsible citizenship among its students, who are encouraged to embrace opportunities and reach their potential. Sandon Public School is guided by the S.H.I.N.E. values, which include Show respect, Honesty, Include others, Never give up, and Engage in learning.
The school caters to a diverse population of 245 students, approximately 28% of whom are of Aboriginal background. Moreover, 14% of students have English as an additional language, and 10% have a diagnosed disability. In response to these varied backgrounds, Sandon Public School has developed comprehensive teaching and learning strategies alongside student well-being programs to address these complexities effectively.
As part of the New South Wales public education system, Sandon Public School ensures high-quality teaching and a supportive learning environment. It has been recognised as a Positive Behaviour school for five years, with the program revitalised in 2018. The school also features an active Parents and Citizens Association that plays a crucial role in community engagement.
To enhance the learning environment, various infrastructure projects have been completed, such as the Cooler Classrooms project, which provides a better climate for learning. The school also participates in initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and sustainability.
Through diverse activities and programs, Sandon Public School creates a well-rounded educational experience, preparing students for the future with the skills and attitude to thrive.
