About the school
Ocean Shores Public School is a modern, well-equipped institution located in a beautiful bushland setting. Since its official opening in 1993, following the closure of the Billinudgel Public School, the school has been dedicated to providing quality education for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. With 12 permanent classrooms, the school's enrolment is currently capped at 315 students, comprising 165 male and 150 female students, which has resulted in a decline in enrolments due to adherence to the NSW Department of Education's Enrolment Policy.
The school prides itself on its experienced teaching staff and supportive community, which includes dedicated teacher aides and an involved parent body. Focused on both academic performance and student wellbeing, Ocean Shores Public School emphasises quality education in literacy—especially following the introduction of the Literacy, Learning and Language (L3) program, which has significantly bolstered student performance. Moreover, students in mathematics consistently perform above state averages, reflective of the school's high expectations for academic achievement and personal development.
The strategic directions (2018-2020) reflect the school’s commitment to supporting happy and successful students, inspired teaching and learning, and fostering interconnected community relations. The school encourages individual growth across cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual dimensions, guaranteeing that every student feels safe and supported. Ocean Shores Public School maintains a strong community connection, preparing students to be engaged global citizens while honouring diverse backgrounds.
