About the school
At Hanwood Public School, the aim is to develop deep knowledge, understanding and ownership in learning. Located in the village of Hanwood, just five kilometres from Griffith, the school serves as a focal point for the community and caters to students from Kindergarten to Year 6. With a dedicated staff of twenty-seven, including seventeen teachers and six School Learning and Support Officers, the school maintains a current enrolment of 170 students.
Community Engagement
Hanwood Public School benefits from a proactive and dedicated Parent and Citizen (P&C) Committee, fostering strong relationships within both the Hanwood and wider Griffith community. The school is noted for its strong sporting history, opportunities in the performing arts, and a growing reputation in debating, emphasizing a focus on quality teaching and learning.
Wellbeing Initiatives
The school promotes student resilience, respect, and a holistic growth approach academically, socially, and emotionally. The Resilience Project is a whole-school wellbeing initiative designed to teach the essential values of gratitude, empathy, mindfulness, and emotional literacy, ensuring that each student has the necessary support to thrive in their educational journey.
