About the school
Michelago Primary School is situated along the Monaro Highway, positioned conveniently between Canberra and Cooma, in a small rural village that has the potential for growth. The school currently operates with two multi-stage classrooms and fosters a friendly, supportive environment. It prioritises the educational development of each student through a broad range of opportunities, emphasising literacy and numeracy alongside the performing and visual arts. Integrating technology into the learning experience, all classrooms are equipped with internet access, enhancing educational delivery.
The school promotes a variety of sporting activities and focuses on professional learning for staff to elevate student outcomes through quality assessments and feedback. With a strong commitment to student welfare, the school adopts a Positive Behaviour for Learning Program aimed at establishing shared values of respect, responsibility, safety, and personal excellence. The school community recently celebrated the addition of a new library, constructed under the Federal Government's Building Education Revolution, which enhances the learning environment along with existing facilities that include a multi-purpose playing court.
The staff, known for their dedication, work closely with families and local community members to nurture a positive working relationship that supports student success. Michelago Primary School remains committed to celebrating individual student achievements and embracing a collaborative approach that includes parents and community members in the learning process, thus ensuring each child feels valued and supported in their educational journey.
