Tomerong Public School
We help every student to learn, grow and succeed.
About the school
Tomerong Public School, established in 1862, is located approximately 20 km south of Nowra in a small rural village community. The school caters to around 125 students as a PP5 school and is part of the Bay and Basin Learning community, being a KidsMatter school that prioritises the wellbeing of its community. The school offers a comprehensive primary education, focusing on Literacy, Numeracy, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and supports the integration of students with special needs within the mainstream education system.
Quality Teaching and Learning
The school implements Quality Teaching and Learning programs that provide students with ample opportunities to achieve their full potential. Student progress is monitored through an outcome-based approach, with formal reporting to parents occurring biannually. The school promotes positive student welfare through effective policies that recognise achievements in all areas of schooling, alongside a discipline policy aimed at fostering self-discipline and motivation.
Community Involvement
At Tomerong Public School, collaboration between the school and home is encouraged to deliver meaningful, child-centred education. The school values active parent involvement, facilitated through a small but dedicated Parents and Citizens (P&C) group that supports educational resources and initiatives. The school community also embraces a dress code, which enhances student self-esteem and reflects a positive school ethos.
Facilities
The school features Interactive Whiteboards in every classroom to enhance learning. It has a Healthy Canteen operating twice a week, providing nutritious food options that are well-received by the school community. The school's commitment to knowing each student personally fosters strong relationships that underpin the educational experience.
