About the school
Nowra Hill Public School is a small school located in a rural setting south of Nowra, adjacent to HMAS Albatross. It serves families from the Nowra Hill village, small farms, and the Defence Force associated with HMAS Albatross and the Army Parachute Training School. The school is committed to achieving high academic standards and provides a caring and safe learning environment where students are encouraged to 'Strive to Excel'.
Core Values
At Nowra Hill Public School, the core values are Respect, Responsibility, and Safety. The school actively participates in the Positive Behaviour for Learning program, which helps foster a supportive and inclusive environment for student leadership and involvement. This, in turn, creates a safe, happy, and friendly space where children from Kindergarten to Year 6 learn and play together.
Academic Focus
There is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy across all key learning areas. The school is part of a small schools network that facilitates shared professional learning among teachers and provides a variety of sporting and cultural activities for students. This collaboration enhances the overall educational experience and connects students with diverse learning opportunities.
Community Engagement
The dedicated staff and parents maintain positive relationships to promote a shared vision for the school. Parents and Citizens (P&C) actively organise events to support fundraising efforts and to develop a sense of community. As a school with approximately 158 years of history, Nowra Hill Public School continues to be a pillar of support and education for its community, welcoming students from all backgrounds and ensuring every child feels safe, included, and ready to learn.
Mission
We help every student to learn, grow and succeed. Our vision is for all students and staff to enjoy coming to school and that we provide a high quality, safe, supportive, inclusive and holistic school experience that promotes wellbeing for all members of the school community.
