About the school
Willawarrin Public School, a proud member of the Macleay Educational Community of Schools, is located in picturesque Willawarrin, just thirty kilometres north-west of Kempsey. The school serves a diverse rural community and features welcoming physical facilities located in well-maintained grounds, including a newly constructed hall, library, and administration buildings. Students enjoy expansive playing fields, a covered multi-purpose court, a canteen, adventure play equipment, and four modern classrooms.
As part of the N.S.W. Priority Schools Program, Willawarrin Public School joined the National Partnerships Program (Low SES) in 2011. The learning community fosters a caring environment that nurtures students as they develop academic, social, physical, and living skills through a range of cultural and educational programs. This is achieved through high-quality teaching, supported by a comprehensive Welfare Policy.
The school's strong focus on technology enhances students' learning experiences, with interactive whiteboards in all classrooms and two 'Connected Classrooms' that link students with peers from other schools and educational environments. An extensive wireless network provides flexible Internet access via notebooks, iPads, and desktop computers.
Willawarrin Public School students achieve outstanding outcomes in academic, sporting, and cultural pursuits. Notably, in 2012, senior classes secured first place in the Science and Engineering Challenge, competing against twelve other Macleay area schools. The school's soccer team achieved State Championship status in the Small Schools Knockout competition in 2011. Regular NAPLAN assessments also reflect strong growth in student performance, significantly above State and North Coast averages in many areas. The dedicated teaching staff focuses on Literacy, Numeracy, and Student Engagement, continuously enhancing their skills through professional learning.
