About the school
Gunnedah High School is a proud comprehensive, co-educational high school located in the New England region of Australia. The school caters to secondary students in Gunnedah and the surrounding areas, including Boggabri, Breeza, Mulalley, Somerton, and Tambar Springs. While the local community has recently experienced an economic uplift due to the presence of mining companies, the school is currently facing a small decline in enrolments. Many families in the area deal with low socio-economic challenges, and as a result, Gunnedah High School benefits from several initiatives, including the Priority Schools program and National Partnerships Low Socio Economic funding.
The school aims to offer a comprehensive curriculum that caters to diverse student needs, emphasising a commitment to 'Comprehensive, Curriculum Choices, Challenging, Caring, and Community-Centred' education. Gunnedah High is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all students feel safe, valued, and are encouraged to do their best. The school focuses on not only academic achievement but also personal development and wellbeing, with support systems in place for each student to thrive.
As a Connected Communities school, Gunnedah High fosters meaningful partnerships between the school and the wider community, thus enhancing educational outcomes for Aboriginal students. With a commitment to respect, responsibility, and personal growth, Gunnedah High School is devoted to preparing students to become confident, engaged citizens in an ever-evolving world.
