About the school
Tenterfield High School is dedicated to fostering a dynamic and engaging educational atmosphere that promotes high expectations and supports lifelong learners. Located 18 kilometres south of the Queensland border, the school caters to approximately 260 students, including a 10% representation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The school focuses on quality teaching and learning, offering various educational initiatives such as embedded literacy and numeracy programs, a dedicated learning centre, study hall, and vocational education programs.
Students at Tenterfield High School are active members of the community, often participating in state-level competitions across co-curricular pursuits. The staff, ranging from experienced educators to those in the early stages of their careers, are committed to enhancing educational opportunities to reflect contemporary teaching practices. The school enjoys strong support from parents and the local community, with significant engagements with the Aboriginal community and an extensive student welfare system in place.
An innovative Agriculture Program enriches the curriculum, enabling students to engage in hands-on learning through farming and sustainable practices, and providing nationally recognised VET qualifications. The Learning and Support Faculty includes classrooms dedicated to personalised education, ensuring that every student thrives and develops skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and life skills.
