NSW public high schools teaching Year 10
Year 10 completes Stage 5 and the compulsory years of schooling. It is the year students receive Stage 5 grades toward the Record of School Achievement (RoSA) and choose their senior courses for Years 11 and 12.
The RoSA and staying at school
NESA's Record of School Achievement is a credential for students who leave school after Year 10 and before completing the HSC; it records the grades awarded at the end of Stage 5. In NSW, students must stay at school until they finish Year 10 and then remain in full-time education, training or work, or a combination, until they turn 17.
Choosing senior courses
During Year 10 schools run subject-selection processes for the Preliminary HSC in Year 11. Some students move for Years 11 and 12 to a senior college or senior campus that teaches only those years, or join a collegiate arrangement between neighbouring schools.
