The school prides itself on providing a broad curriculum for students from within and beyond the Lithgow Valley, fostering inclusivity as part of the local secondary learning community. With a commitment to ‘Opportunities for Everyone’, Lithgow High School continually aims to enhance teaching, learning, and achievement through programs like the National Partnerships Low SES initiative.
The school is known for its strong performances in various disciplines; achieving regional and national awards in student film making and showing consistent improvement in School Certificate performances. Lithgow High School has also garnered acclaim in the creative and performing arts. Students, many of whom are second or third-generation attendees, are encouraged to realise their potential across all areas, with a focus on being 'Respectful, Safe, Responsible Learners' as part of the Positive Behaviour for Learning initiative.
To support student learning, Lithgow High has built strong partnerships with local TAFE and Charles Sturt University and introduced facilities to enhance integrated learning, benefiting gifted and talented students. The school's dedication to growth in literacy and numeracy, as evidenced by positive NAPLAN results, reflects its ongoing prioritisation of academic improvement.
