Scarborough Public School
Small school, big picture thinking.
About the school
Scarborough Public School provides a quality, future-focused public education for students from a cluster of Wollongong's Northern communities. As a small school with an average of 70 students, it caters to the needs of its local community while drawing some students from other areas who seek the school's unique features. These include strong links with parents and the community, and an effective collaboration with the local Community of Schools (CoS).
The school offers strong educational opportunities in the arts and differentiated learning for students with a variety of learning styles. Engaging parents in their children's education is a priority, and the school maintains a robust commitment to student wellbeing. With three full-time teachers, two part-time teachers, and additional support staff, the school is well-equipped to meet the diverse educational needs of its students.
Situated in a predominantly high socio-economic area, Scarborough Public School also benefits from funding provided by its active Parents and Citizens (P&C) committee. The school is a part of the STEM Action Project, mentoring 14 like-minded school communities in project-based learning practices with a focus on STEM.
The school's vision is to prepare students to innovate, collaborate, and think critically, with a strong emphasis on flexible, project-based learning that aligns with curriculum outcomes and builds strong literacy and numeracy foundations. Scarborough Public School strives to foster a culture of trust, creativity, and excellence, ensuring that every child is heard and supported in their learning journey.
